Since its foundation in 2007, the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT) has established itself as a reference unit in the history and material culture of Science, Technology and Medicine in Europe and the best positioned in Portugal to dialogue with researchers on the international scene. Classified as Exceptional in 2014, and Excellent in 2019, hosting ERC, H2020 projects and different FCT project financing lines.
By bringing together in the same research unit and under the same conceptual framework a set of diversified themes, CIUHCT presents itself as a vanguard center, offering the best conditions to develop research in the areas of History of Science, Technology and Medicine.
CIUHCT is an inter-university centre based at FCUL (building C4, 3rd floor) and FCT/ NOVA (building VII, 2nd floor) that provides office space, benefiting from the computer resources and specialized libraries existing in both institutions. The CIUHCT at FCUL is managed by FCiências.ID and at FCT/ NOVA by NOVA.ID.FCT.
